Basset Hound Movies

Christmas With Holly (2012)

The Basset Hound is a frequent choice for a background movie dog. They’re easy to train and film lying next to an actor on a couch, sitting with children, or riding in a car. Every now and then, you can even find one being represented as a hunting hound, such as Home from the Hills (1960). Although Reel Dogs does not profile TV and animation, you can also find Bassets in both of these mediums: see Droopy, original Lassie show, and the Dog Days episode of Petticoat Junction.

With a dog training school in the film you see dozens of dogs working in the background and doing agility. Unsure about a few of these, like the Silky that could be a large Yorkie. The Akita might be a mix. And the ungroomed bunch of Havanese might also be something else. A few of these, like the Malamute and Doberman, only appear in the credits.
